COMMUNITY SERVICE

Each year, Gotham Cheer chooses 1-2 local charities that benefit and empower NYC’s LGBTQIA+ youth. We provide volunteers to assist the chosen nonprofits and their programs, promote them year-round to increase awareness and visibility, and create fundraisers to support their on-going work.

With the COVID-19 global pandemic, Gotham Cheer shifted our usual strategies and events to include more creative ways to deliver community service. We developed mentoring video series, participated in COVID-19 outreach initiatives, created mental health & wellness photo campaigns and webinars, led body & meditation virtual workshops, and collected winter apparel, PPE and toiletries for homeless LGBTQIA+ youth during the pandemic. Recently, in the fall/winter of 2020, Gotham Cheer raised nearly $12,000 for our beneficiaries.

There’s nothing as fun and rewarding as community service and our partnership with Barnes & Noble takes it to another level. During key holidays, Gotham Cheer wraps gifts as a fundraiser at Barnes & Noble stores as happy customers donate to our Community Partner Grant.

COMMUNITY

OUTREACH

At Gotham, we genuinely care about our local community charities and they continue to inspire us to get involved. Our members are a volunteer force that helps New York City by going above and beyond cheerleading in various ways from outreach to the elderly, youth development and fighting the stigmas associated with homelessness and HIV.
